Empty, The Flood, & A Cage

~ Empty

Empty was the space where his heart once beat,

For his soul had finally outgrown the life he desired.

And from that glen a new forest grew,

Where compassion,

Was as common as dew,

On the fresh morning grass.

~ The Flood

Cultures of shame breed silence,

Seeking only to serve those too fearful of change.

Something fluid.

Leaking from the tap of feigned control,

No matter how often the valve is tightened.

And just as a flood begins with a single drop of rain,

So too does truth.

~ A Cage

Memorized lies recited to those,

Who felt that unrequited love was enough to get by,

Learn to trust only themselves.

Until that cage becomes cramped,

And the narrow light expands,

Granting permission to leave,

With only the weight,

Of yourself.
